Southfields residents held a public meeting to hear about the future of Wimbledon Park, in relation to the AELTC planning application to build on the Grade II* Heritage, Metropolitan Open Land.
Over 300 residents attended the meeting where presentations were given on the environmental impacts and legal situation.
A straw poll at the end of the meeting showed that no one attending supported the AELTC’s plans.
Both Merton and Wandsworth Councils are currently considering the AELTC's application to develop the former golf club land, but it is not too late to object.
Here’s a checklist of what you can do:
1. If you haven’t yet done so, its not to late to submit a planning objection – send an email or letter to both Merton (email planning.representations@merton.gov.uk quoting reference 21/P2900 ) and Wandsworth (email planning@wandsworth.gov.uk quoting reference 2021/3609).
2. Email your local councillors and your MP about your objections. (Find your local councillors on the Merton or Wandsworth websites).
3. Sign the Save Wimbledon Park petition and encourage others to sign as well.
